Kid of the Week: Henry

Mar 25, 2025

At the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County, we love celebrating the amazing kids who bring energy, kindness, and leadership to our Club. This week, we’re excited to highlight Henry as our Kid of the Week!

Meet Henry

Henry has been attending the Boys & Girls Club since first grade, and now, as a fourth grader, he continues to be an active and engaged member of our community. Whether he’s shooting hoops, competing in games room tournaments, or just spending time with friends, Henry is known for his confidence, athleticism, and leadership among his peers.

Getting to Know Henry

Henry is 9 years old (but not for long—he turns 10 this week!). His favorite subject in school is reading, and he enjoys historical novels like The Sign of the Beaver. When he’s at the Club, you can almost always find him in his favorite room: the gym, where he loves to play basketball with his friends.

One of Henry’s favorite memories at the Club is making a new friend—he values the friendships he’s built here, which make his time at the Club even more special.

Favorite Staff Member

Henry’s favorite staff member is Drew, who works in the North Gym. “He plays basketball with us, he is very nice and good at basketball,” Henry says. Having a mentor who shares his love for sports makes Henry’s time at the Club even more enjoyable.

Big Dreams Ahead

When Henry grows up, he has big aspirations—he wants to be a professional athlete in either football or basketball. If he could meet any famous athlete, he’d choose Michael Jordan because “he’s so good.” Henry’s passion for sports is evident in everything he does, and we have no doubt he’ll work hard to achieve his dreams.

Fun Fact About Henry

One thing Henry wants people to know about him? He’s good at sports, and he’s already thinking about his future. He dreams of going to college and playing sports for his favorite team, Butler University, following in his family’s footsteps. And if he gets the chance to play basketball for the Butler Bulldogs, he promises to help get them back to the NCAA Tournament!

Henry, we’re so proud of your dedication, leadership, and ambition. Keep dreaming big—we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
