New shoes can make a big difference for a growing child—from feeling comfortable at school to confidently joining friends at play. Thanks to a local partnership, Club kids now have year-round access to new shoes right here at our Lebanon Club.
On Wednesday, September 16, the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County opened a permanent Shoe Pantry at its Lebanon Club, located at 403 W. Main St. Funded by Randy Shaffer Custom Homes and operated in partnership with New Shoe Day, Indiana’s Shoe Bank, the pantry provides an on-site supply of new, name-brand shoes in every size.
When a need is noticed, Club staff can fit a child with a pair of shoes that same day.
Shoe insecurity—the lack of access to proper footwear—can keep children from fully participating in school, activities, and everyday play. For families with growing kids, keeping up with new shoes can also be a significant expense. This pantry helps remove that barrier by making shoes available inside a place children and families already know and trust.
The Lebanon location marks the 14th Shoe Pantry New Shoe Day has filled across Indiana, with support from a Boone County builder investing in Boone County kids.
New Shoe Day works exclusively through community partners, including schools, shelters, Boys & Girls Clubs, and pantry sites, to provide new, name-brand shoes to children throughout Indiana. Its statewide network helps kids show up fully at school, at play, and in their communities. Learn more at newshoeday.org.
